Our Grill Master, Javier Costa, had the opportunity to assist “La Patria Gaucha” in the city of Tacuarembo, where 80,000 people gathered for 5 days to be part of the Uruguayan tradition. A unique event that began 29 years ago, now collaborates with 13 traditional gaucho societies, which compete for the Grand Award. The event pays tribute to the old-fashioned practices of the gaucho (South American Cowboy), from riding a horse and building a “rancho” (ranch), to cooking dishes true to its history. Among several disciplines, grilling traditionally with wood (leña del monte) is one of the most popular and the “Patria y Tradición” society was recognized for this skill. The Grand Award of the event went to “El Fogón de Curtina”. Check out the entire competitive event at www.patriagaucha.com.uy.
